I have found that many people out there are confused when it comes to Art and the Human Figure. I am finding more and more on this site that pornography is being posted under the guise of "art."
Let me start by saying that I am not against artistic nudes... when they ARE artistic. Art is all about content and concept, about saying something that matters or has never been seen, or said, before. If you display a nude in a way that makes the figure formally and conceptually interesting, then great! If you use a model to help you with a certain pose for future work, wonderful! It's a great way to learn. Even if you have a nude with only a cane and top hat, there could be a way of having some sort of valid concept.
I believe that your work is a reflection of who you are. Consequently, if you put up work that is nothing but MySpace quality images portraying women, and men, who seem to be shouting, "Hey! Look at my genitals! I'm a dirty whore!," then that makes you... well, I think you know what I'm getting at. If this sounds harsh, all I can say is, "Oh well!" Everyone takes responsibility for their work, whether they like it or not.
Like I said before, Art, with a capital A, is all about what you put into your piece and why. That is the difference between magazines like Art Forum and Playboy.

P.S.: If you have never heard of Art Forum, or, better yet, simply don't know what the words "formally" and "concept" mean, then this journal entry was just a big waste of my time and yours.
